The history of the place
Located in the picturesque Marais district, the building was constructed in the 1850s. Philippe Cécile, a renowned ornamental embroiderer, used it as his workshop to carry out ambitious projects such as the restoration of the Louis-Philippe stage curtain at the Lunéville theater or Marie-Antoinette's bed at Fontainebleau... Although Catherine Tasca awarded him the title of master craftsman in 1998, the owners evicted him in 2005 as the neighborhood became populated by Chinese wholesalers of leather goods and jewelry.
